Remuera Luxury Home, with modern traditional kitchen

Step into the lap of luxury in the heart of Remuera, where modern sophistication dances seamlessly with timeless tradition in a captivating residence. This beautiful home invites you to explore each room, where a story of design functionality and modern traditional style coexist.

We spoke with talented and experienced designer, Andrea Burney, of Yellowfox who has made this apartment work in any angle. Seeing these irregularities as an opportunity, Burney added character and functionality to her client’s home with the aptly placed dining nook that features a traditional turned table leg, while managing to keep a balanced flow with the cabinetry. It is a creative challenge to make unusual angles function well, while looking good, so making sure an expert is helping with spatial design is important.

It’s about working with the spaces rather than against them, making the most of the layout and colours/materials…ie. Form with Function

The kitchen, a culinary haven, welcomes you with sleek cabinets and drawers, a harmonious blend of modern aesthetics and timeless practicality. The placement is a great example of this. Ambient lighting flows through the home, adding another dimension that sets a warm positive mood.

Hettich’s AvanTech YOU drawer systems were the perfect choice with their soft-close mechanisms, creating a tranquil atmosphere, inviting you to explore the heart of the home with each effortless glide. The addition of a seamless door on what most would think was simply structural, adds storage space, without compromising on aesthetic. The Sensys hinges from Hettich matched well with the range of angles and overlays to ensure premium results.

Hettich soft-closing, silent drawers are carried through to the bathroom, which is a sanctuary of comfort. The ambiance is moody and cosy, a perfect spot to hideaway for as long as possible.

Next to the bedroom is the laundry space, which transitions into the dark and elegant bathroom. A practical, space-saving and cohesive way to keep these two areas chic. Here, modern versatility meets traditional craftsmanship, with each piece contributing to the narrative of a home that values both function and form. Smart functionality is quickly noticed with railing over the laundry machines to ensure wrinkle-free clothing. Upper cabinetry with seamless soft-closing hinges continues here.

By creating functionality in the difficult angles of the home, it shows the skills in meticulous design choices that Burney has made. A narrative of modern living interwoven with touches of tradition. A space that shows the personality of the homeowner, that can transcend trends. Where the past and present coexist in perfect harmony.

With thanks to Andrea Burney of Yellowfox for speaking with us and the opportunity to share this luxury home with our readers.
